troop93.com Email Addresses
To facilitate communications by email, our troop provides email address for each scout
and parent with a standard format. For scouts, this is
<scoutfirstname><scoutlastnameinitial>@troop93.com
For parents, it's
parent<parentlastname>@troop93.com
There are three main steps to create your alias(es): request, accept and forward.
Unfortunately, each alias must be created and verified individually so if you don't request
an alias, it won't be created for you.
- Email troop93webmaster@yahoo.com to request an alias. In your note, provide the email
address at which you'd like to receive the invitation.
- When you receive the invitation, follow the instructions in the email to accept the invitation. A
screen shot of the invitation is shown here.
- Click through the link that you already have a Yahoo or SBCGlobal ID.
- Sign in to your Yahoo or SBCGlobal account as usual.
- Agree to the Terms of Service (view screenshot).
- You should see a message that your email account was created (view screenshot).
- Log in to your new <you>@troop93.com email (Mac users: Don't use Safari! It has a bug!)
and set its forwarding option to forward email to your normal email address. Alternately, you
can set up Outlook (or similar POP or IMAP client) to directly access your email. Or, you can
read email by logging in to the troop mail server, mail.troop93.com. It's likely that everyone
will prefer the first option. So more details on forwarding below....
- Log in to your new email either by clicking through the link on the confirmation page
("Go to your Business Mail") or clicking here to go to mail.troop93.com. You should
see something like this screenshot.
- Now, click on the Mail Classic link at the top left, just under your login name. This will
ask you if you want to switch to Yahoo Mail Classic, so confirm that yes you do. Once
you've switched, your screen should look like this. On the left side, you'll notice that
under Mail Accounts, you have two accounts. One should be your usual Yahoo
email; the other is the new troop93.com email. Click on troop93.com so that the
black arrow points to it, as shown in the previous screenshot.
- On the top right, click Options. You should now see the Options screen, like this.
- On the left, click Pop and Forwarding. If it prompts you to be in Mail Classic (like this),
click Set up or Edit Pop and Forwarding.
- Click where it says Forwarding. Type in the email address that you want your troop93.
com email to go to. Your screen should now be like this.
- Don't forget to press Save (at the bottom of the screen).
- It may ask you to verify this email address, like this. If so, click Send Verification.
- Log in to your regular email. You can either go back to the main email and click your
yahoo.com email under accounts if you're forwarding to another Yahoo address, or
open a new browser window and log in to your regular email (wherever you've decided
to forward to). You should have received an email asking to verify the forward. Here's
a screenshot.
- Click through the link as instructed in that message. Press the Verify Account button.
- Want to restore your Yahoo email to the new email client? Click Try All New Mail to
get out of Classic.
Phew!! Now your alias should be working. Send yourself an email at your new alias and
confirm that you receive it where you forwarded it. If you have any questions, or get stuck,
give me a call or email troop93webmaster@yahoo.com.
